![]() ![]() ![]() There's next to no crew interaction, you just talk to a HANDFUL of Children of the Forest that are friendly. The only sections you really get to go guns blazing are the Bear fights (which serve to just drain your ammo and medkits) and the one bandit fight, maybe a mutant fight here or there, but as I got around halfway through the level I was just getting sick of how slow it was because stealth is basically a must to save the crew member. It's also very dark and very linear at night, making grabbing the Night Vision Goggles early on an absolute must mercy on those who didn't find them after losing them in the river. You'll basically never use your guns, having to resort to knockouts. Taiga is a very nice looking level, but not a particularly fun one, especially if you want to get the good ending, in which case the entire level is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slog. It doesn't help safehouses are very spread out. There are some interesting and tense moments, like sneaking into the communication bunker with all the spiders, or exploring the old cave town, but I generally did not like Caspian as much. While the car was much better to use than the boat, you kind of need to have it with you at all times to get around, otherwise it just takes too long and you will be forced to waste ammo on Humanimals and other wildlife, which there's a ton of. Though waking up to having next to no supplies after entering the level was a rude awakening, the area is very open and there's plenty to explore, though sometimes it also feels empty. Though you can see the "plot twist" from a mile away, the area is just fun to go "Hehe gun go bang and kill cannibal".Īfter that, I guess Caspian is my third pick. It's a hell of a lot of fun being able to actually blast away since there's plenty of ammo around. It's probably one of the few, or maybe perhaps the ONLY time you're really allowed to go guns blazing. My next favorite area honestly was Yamantau. For the first area to introduce you to the openness of Metro Exodus, it does it's job splendidly. The cult is interesting to interact with, and you can even find friendly people. It can be quite dark out at night, and it can be hard to spy predators in the dirt. The well-known anomalies from the previous games are back and even tie into the story of how SIlantius got in power. There's good amounts of stealth (though the forced stealth to get the good ending for the area can be kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, especially the boat) it was overall fun. There's so much to do, so much to explore, and there's bits of everything though I think for a first run through, there's a bit too much sniping you don't really have access to a good sniping weapon at this point, and I found on Hard Mode for my first run, I was getting ganked by Bandits with shotguns from WAY beyond what my shotgun was even remotely capable of pulling off. As much as I absolutely DESPISED the boat, because Artyom paddles like he's on summer vacation, it's by far the most intriguing area, both enemy and exploration wise. ![]()
